How to Register
Registration for Hoofer Youth Program sessions is coordinated
through the Hoofer Outdoor Programs Office. After printing
your registration form and choosing the sessions you would
like to sign up for you may:
- Drop off your registration form in person
- Mail your registration to 800 Langdon St., Madison,
WI 53706
- Fax your registration to (608) 262-0156
Costs and Fees
The cost for each session is indicated on the class schedule.
Basically, the cost is $245 for most regular
sessions (24 teaching hours). For one-week sessions that
are half-day (Canoeing, Kayaking, and Windsurfing Intro
or Intermediate), the cost is $135. Please
see the class schedule for the
cost of the session of your choice.
Union Membership: If you are not a current
UW-Madison student, you can participate by joining the Wisconsin
Union. See below for more information.
Late registration fee: $20 (within one week of class start)
Transfer or cancellation fee: $10 (to switch
classes or cancel)
Late cancellation fee: $25 (within one week of class start)
There is no refund on or after the first class day and
no refund for reduced sailing, windsurfing or kayaking/canoeing
caused by adverse weather (lack of wind, too much wind,
rain, snow, etc).
Insurance
Information |
| The registration fee includes insurance
for accidental injuries, up to $5,000 ($1,000 primary
coverage, the next $4,000 is in excess of your own
personal insurance). Illness is not included, so
it is important that participants have their own
health insurance. |
Wisconsin
Union Membership
If you are currently not a UW-Madison student or Union
member, you can participate simply by joining the Wisconsin
Union. Union membership is open to the public.
6-month Union Introductory Membership
is $30 and is available for first-time Union memberships
only. Please complete the appropriate section on the youth
registration form.
Annual Union membership is $50 per year
and may be obtained by completing the Application for Wisconsin
Union Membership form (see Registration Forms at left) or
by simply registering on line at www.union.wisc.edu.
Once you are a Union member, you then pay the "UW Student/Union
Member" price. Please direct all membership questions
to the Wisconsin
Union Membership Office at 608-262-2263.
Financial
Aid and Scholarship Info
A limited amount of financial aid is available. If you
have a significant financial limitation but would like to
involve your youth, please complete a scholarship
application and mail a letter to the
Hoofer Youth Program addressed to the Head of Instruction.
Be sure to include which session or sessions you are interested
in.
Donations Appreciated
Those wishing to donate to the Hoofer Youth Scholarship
program may make a tax-deductible donation through the UW
Foundation. Donations are possible via the UW
Foundation website (choose "Wisconsin Union"
as the designation and indicate "Hoofer Youth Program"
in the space provided).
